(Especially for our Arizona, USA guests:)Storyteller.net is pleased to tell share with a new, regular venue for storytelling in the West Valley! Storyteller.net@Borders! Please feel free to share this Email announcement with your contacts.
At 7PM on the third Saturday of each month, Storyteller.net and the Borders Store at 99Ave and McDowell Road in Avondale, AZ will sponsor a presentation of storytelling for “adults, teens and the over ten years old crowd.” We’re excited to offer this event to increase the visibility of storytelling not only in the West Valley but indeed throughout all of Arizona. So many people are unaware of our great guilds, spoken word events and powerful higher-education opportunities in storytelling.
Your invited to participate as either a teller or audience- and perhaps even both. Our next events are January 21 and February 18- as well as the third Saturday of each month in 2006!
Audience: There is no charge for the event held in the Cafe area of the store. Well start promptly at 7PM and we encourage you to arrive early to get a seat. Plan on treating yourself to a beverage or snack in the Seattle’s Best Coffee cafe. This Borders location (10100 W. McDowell Road) is in a busy shopping center- come early. We plan on each evening of storytelling lasting just one hour- plenty of time left for you to still enjoy the evening by taking in a movie or dinner at one of the centers many restaurants or Harkins theater. Make it an evening with friends!
Tellers (And even if you are not sure you are a Teller): We’re looking for tellers for all events. We encourage tellers of all levels to participate, remembering that this event is geared primarily for adult audiences. You are encouraged to do entertaining material intended for adults and teens. Because of this high traffic, public space, we do ask that you refrain from doing “blue” material at this particular event. However, this is the time to put your best material out there. Weve found the Borders audience (and management) at these events to be very responsive.
If you are interested in being a teller at one of the upcoming nights, please contact Sean Buvala at sean@storyteller.net, mentioning the “Borders Event” in the subject line. Or, you may call Sean in the Storyteller.net office at 623.298.4548. Based on a number of factors, you may be asked to audition for this event.
Come and tell. Come and listen. Well see you the third Saturday of each month at the Storyteller.net@Borders events.
