If you love historical fiction, this is a great book for you. While not oral storytelling per se, Carolyn Stearns developed this from a presentation she’s given live many times.
"Christmas Spirits" presents some history and creative thinking about the poem, "A Visit from St. Nicholas," more often called, "The Night Before Christmas," Carolyn Stearns takes the readers on an adventure with characters both modern and from history. It’s fun to read with a bit of a twist in it as you journey along with the seasonally-named main character of "Holly."
We’d like to see a bit more editing on some of the sentences and better paragraph formatting (it’s all done in centering), but these things are not problematic enough to get in the way of enjoying the book. We even learned some new things about Clement Clark Moore. Christmas, history and mystery story lovers, this one’s for you.
